Fountain Montessori Pre-school believes that children benefit most from pre-school education and care when parents and pre-schools work together in partnership.
Our aims are to:
- Support parents as their children's first and most important educators
- Involve parents in the life of the pre-school and their children's education
- Support parents in their own continuing education and personal development.
Method
In order to fulfil these aims:
- We engage in ongoing dialogue with parents to improve our knowledge of the needs of their children and to support their families.
- Through access to written information and through regular informal communication, we inform all parents about how the group is run and its policies.
- We check to ensure parents understand the information which is given to them.
- We encourage and support parents to play an active part in the governance and management of the pre-school by actively inviting them to use their skills and knowledge to support us.
- We involve parents in planning outings, themes, and projects for the school.
- We actively recruit volunteers from parents to help with staff shortages and holiday cover.
- We inform all parents on a regular basis about their children's progress through parent conferences and meetings.
- We involve parents in the shared record keeping about their children - either formally or informally - and ensure parents have access to their children's written records freely.
- We provide opportunities for parents to contribute their own skills, knowledge and interests to the activities of the group
- We inform parents about relevant conferences, workshops and training
- We inform all parents of the systems for registering queries, complaints or suggestions and check to ensure these are understood.
- We have all the terms and conditions clearly stated in the booking form.
- All parents have access to our compliance manual together with its policies and procedures.
- We provide opportunities for parents to learn about our curriculum and what we teach their children by inviting them to parent conferences and to observe their children regularly in school.
- We regularly update our notice board with information to parents
- We regularly update our website with information to parents
- We have quarterly news letters to share news and events
- We write parents letters informing them of news and details of instructions they need.
- We keep a diary system we exchange with parents on food, sleep, nappy change for young children
- We keep records of children’s development, work and play activities to share with parents.
- We keep an open door policy for parents to come in and see us.
- We keep a file of all general communication to parents about school events or activities.
- We keep a parent handbook that gives information about school routine.
